The Amazing Race at Van
Schaick!
They
put together puzzles, completed physical challenges and searched
Van Schaick Island for a treasure chest... all to celebrate
their good behavior!
The third-quarter No Referral Party at Van
Schaick Grade School was called "The Amazing Race." Those
students who had not received a referral for the entire quarter
had a chance to go on a treasure hunt across the island.
Without a clue as to what they would be doing,
students were given their first clue in the lobby of the school.
Each clue was in the form of a puzzle that students had to put
together. After they read the clue, they completed a physical
challenge, and if they were successful with the physical
challenge—which included things like lining up in alphabetical
order without talking—they got a second puzzle that showed a
photo of the next spot they should go to.
Students
went from the school to the country club, to the gazebo and back
to the playground where they eventually discovered the need for
a key… for what they figured out was the elevator! Inside the
elevator was a treasure chest with prizes!
