Animal Control Officer talks
with Page Avenue students
Cohoes
Animal Control Officer Jerry Oliver visited Page Avenue School
on Thursday, March 27 to talk with students about his job and a
potential future career.
"It's a very interesting job," Oliver told
students.
After he graduated from high school, he became
involved with animals and animal health, he explained. He took
several classes at shelters and worked as a veterinary tech for
several years. Those experiences lead to his career as an animal
control officer.
Although he has had a few close calls with
aggressive animals, he has never gotten hurt on the job, and
says his goal is to try to help people.
In addition to responding to calls about animal
complaints, Oliver also works proactively with the public to
help them understand animals in the community.
