Students participate in Global Youth Awareness Day
On
Friday, April 24, Cohoes eighth graders and the senior class worked
together at approximately 20 different sites throughout the city
to perform community service in recognition of Global Youth
Awareness Day. Students cleaned and raked parks, worked with
senior citizens and elementary students, and assisted business
owners with various clean up tasks throughout the morning. In
all, more than 300 students and 35 staff from the two schools
volunteered to work on this project. Following the morning work,
students and staff gathered at Cohoes Middle school for a BBQ

Swine Influenza Information
With recent news
attention on swine flu, the
district is providing information as a resource for parents and
community members seeking facts and information about this
strain of the flu virus.
Parents are
reminded that NO children with flu-like symptoms should come to
school, and that the best way to prevent the spread of this and
other regular seasonal types of flu is to follow basic hygiene
rules—such as washing your hand frequently with soap and hot
water and using a tissue when you cough or sneeze.

MORE New Visions programs show CHS
students a world of opportunities
It's
hard enough to get up and head to school as a regular high
school student, but for those students participating in the
Capital Region BOCES New Visions Career Explorations programs,
wake-up time may come earlier and their workload may be heavier.
But in the end, these hard-work students say the results will
pay off.
