March 12, 2013 - Congratulations to the following CHS teams who have achieved scholar-athlete status for winter 2012-13: boys' basketball, girls' basketball, boys' indoor track and girls' indoor track. The teams were recognized by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association. To be considered for scholar-athlete status, these teams were required to carry at least a 90 average or better during the season that ended earlier this month.
The teams' successes were not just limited to the classroom. Take a look at some of their accomplishments during the 2012-13 season>>
The high school spring sports season will begin Monday, March 4. Middle school spring sports will begin on Monday, March 18. These dates are different from those listed in the district calendar. They reflect a change made by the Colonial Council to coincide with other Section II schedules.

Thank you to everyone who supported the district's Athletic Department which last week presented the local chapter of the American Cancer Society with a check for $343 for their Coaches vs. Cancer campaign. Donations were accepted on four evenings at the high school during which boys' and girls' basketball as well as wrestling had contests. Pictured, from left to right, is Athletic Director Tom Kostrzebski, Katie Awad, and Justin Cook from the American Cancer Society.
Members of the Cohoes High School football team have been recognized in the off-season for their contributions to the team last fall. Please note that the football and volleyball teams just narrowly missed the reaching the Scholar-Athlete mark of 90%. Congratulations to all our hardworking students!

December 10, 2012 - A great high school soccer career came to an end last weekend in Saratoga Springs as CHS senior Connor Laughlin was honored with a second team all Colonial Council nomination at the Section II Boys Soccer Banquet at the Holiday Inn. The honor was just one of more added to Connor's impressive resume, which includes two consecutive second team all Colonial Council nominations, four years as a varsity starter, two years as team captain, and two years as team MVP.
"All of these accomplishments are overshadowed by Connor's fantastic grades and contributions to the Cohoes community off of the field," said Coach Dave Wasserman. "The Cohoes soccer program has lost a great player, a leader and an amazing person.
"We wish Connor luck throughout the the rest of his senior year and
in College," he added.
All students’ grades 7-12 that desire to participate in interscholastic athletics must receive an adequate physical examination. A medical history must be done if a student is carrying over their physical from one season to another as well. The nurse must approve this information before the athlete can participate. No student will be allowed to try out or practice with the team without the required physical examination. There are no exceptions.
Physical examinations are provided by the school district prior to each sports season free of charge. Students may be examined by their family physician. The district medical form must be completed and returned directly to the school nurse. Failure to provide proof of a physical examination will result in a loss of practice time. Physical examinations are valid for the school calendar year. Students trying out for a sport can have the exam before the season starts.

On the banks of the Mohawk River
With its hills of blue
Stands our honored Cohoes High School
A stirring sight to view
Then hail to Cohoes High School
Whose blue and gold is our rule
We gain strength from thee O Alma Mater
Praise and hail Cohoes
We will treasure Alma Mater
And we now declare
Our loyalty and affection
As our voices fill the air
Then hail to Cohoes High School
Whose blue and gold is our rule
We gain strength from thee O Alma Mater
Praise and hail Cohoes
Loyal hearts beat proudly
And our pulses thrill
At the thought of that honored building
That stands upon the hill
Then hail to Cohoes High School
Whose blue and gold is our rule
We gain strength from thee O Alma Mater
Praise and hail Cohoes
