On Friday, August 26th the Cohoes Football Program welcomed guest speaker Ryan LaCasse, defensive end from the Super Bowl XLI Championship Team Indianapolis Colts. Lacasse played college football at Syracuse University where he totaled over 100 tackles in his senior year and still currently ranks in the Top 10 All-Time for sacks. LaCasse was drafted in 2006 by the Baltimore Ravens in the 7th Round; he was then traded to the Indianapolis Colts where he was part of their 2007 Championship team.
LaCasse spoke to the Tigers about his experiences and the life lessons that he learned through playing football. He spoke about the importance of not only working hard on the playing field but getting the most out of your education, the relationships he developed with his teammates and coaches, and how to train on becoming a complete athlete.
At the end he shared one of his most prized possessions from playing in the NFL, his Super Bowl ring. He told the story of a special red ruby that is placed in the Horseshoe on the side of the ring, which signifies playing in the Super Bowl Game. He allowed the players to try the ring on and take pictures with it.
The Cohoes Football Program wants to thank Mrs. Carey for being able to arrange such a wonderful and motivational event for the players as they get ready for the start of the season.
